Austin Recovery, The City of Austin and Recovery People have partnered to offer scholarships to Austin Recovery Alumni for Peer Recovery Coach Training.
In 2015, Austin Recovery won a grant from the City of Austin to fund a Recovery Continuum of Care program, which provides recovery supportive services to individuals at Hick’s Ranch as they transition back into the community and learn to live a life of recovery. Trained and supervised Recovery Coach Interns, are matched with eligible individuals who have applied to receive 6+ months recovery coaching. The Program matches Recovery Coach Interns with a newly discharged AR Alumni and tracks their level of engagement. The Coaches meet with an experienced Certified Peer Support Specialist to strengthen skills, share successes, identify challenges and develop solutions for their clients and the recovery community as a whole.
In exchange for volunteering their time to provide six months of weekly coaching for four Austin Recovery Alumni, Recovery Coach Interns will receive the training and supervision they need to become licensed Internationally Certified Peer Recovery Specialists, including:
- 46 hour PRSS training
- 8 week on-boarding
- Group supervision
- Weekly documentation
You must be at least 18 years old and have at least one year of continuous sobriety to be eligible for the scholarship.
